Borde Hill 15/11/2009
This match was fished at Borde Hill. Horrendous weather the day before meant that only 8 anglers fished this match. Surprisingly the Carp were still having a munch and so several anglers were caught out at the start who were fishing for silvers. Keith(the oracle) Huggins took top spot once again with 40lb-3oz.on the pole. This meant that with a match to go he has won this years league trophy. Well done Keith. Gary took second spot with 32lb-10oz and Richard Balk 3rd with 31lb-7oz. I'm pleased to tell you that Kelly caught several Carp on her WOBBLE TOP. Well done Kell.

What a day this turned out.As the cooler weather took its toll on our numbers a memorable day was had by all. Ray,Darkie and Gary were fishing the final of The Mitchell Cup. After 30 minutes it was becoming clear that it was going to be a tough match. Ray Hill was first to catch putting the pressure on. Then Kelly had a Bream. Then Clive and Richard had a Bream apiece.Keith,Darkie,Gary and Deb(all sat side by side)had sod all. Ray caught twice more. Keith started a ground bait fight. After 6 hours that's how it finished.Ray won the Mitchell Cup with 3lb.-10oz.-well done mate, well deserved. Amazingly Kelly weighed in with 3lb.-11oz.to record her first ever match win.Gary,Keith Darkie Deb were thrilled!!!
Osprey Lake 04/10/2009
Our latest battle on the bank took place at Keith Huggins favourite,Osprey Lake.It was a day of lost fish as quite a few of us lost out to the fish but in the end Roger came 3rd with 24lb-15 oz of Carp on the pole.Gary got pegged on the bush peg for the 2nd match on the trot and managed a mixed bag for 32lb.-8oz. on the pole.We at last have to say well done to Keith who got to grips with Osprey and weighed in 61lb-14oz.(including 1 fish of 17lb.-8oz.)by switching between the pole and feeder. We have our work cut out now if we are to stop him winning the league!!
Beever Farm Majors Lake
Due to last minute problem with Leggats Lake we had to change venues. The new venue was Beaver Farm and we fished Majors Lake. Only a few of us had fished here before, but many years ago. So no one had much of an idea on tactics and bait choice. With this in mind we all had a smashing time, especially Trevor Burgess , Don Fielding and Roger Apps, who all managed to break parts of their poles. The fishing was less productive and seamed to be a lake of two halves. The pegs at the bottom end produced skimmers and quality roach, and the top end produced tiddlers, biggest being 1 oz. Ray Hill won the match fishing the method, alternating between corn and paste, weighing in a very respectable 52lb. 2nd with 42lb 3oz was Darkie who also fished the method, using double corn an a hair-rig. Roger Apps was 3rd with 39lb 3oz fishing the pole using corn. Thanks to everyone who turned up. Let’s hope the next match fishes better.

This was a new venue for us so nobody knew what to expect. The sun shone and most of us changed colour.Keith Huggins once again showed his class winning with 18lb.-9oz. of skimmers and roach by alternating between waggler and feeder fishing.Gary took 2nd spot with 8lb-15oz of roach mainly on the waggler and Ray Hill was just behind with 8lb.-9oz.Poor old Colin Temple got knocked out of the Mitchell Cup which now means the final will be between Darkie,Ray and Gary.Venue to be arranged.
Osprey Lake 02/08/2009
Sunday saw us back at Osprey Lake .There were Carp cruising about on the surface and the sun was out.It looked great. If only those cruising Carp had been hungry. After a 6 hour struggle for most Roger took bronze with 20lb.-10oz on the pole. Darkie stuck with the method feeder and did a great job and weighed in 35lb.-12oz. for silver.Gary, after catching nothing for the first 2 hours made the decision to go bit bashing at 4 meters to put a few tidlers in the net but instead of tidlers he found quality Tench,Chub and Skimmers finishing with 49lb-1oz for top spot. Keith Huggins has decided he hates this lake after being knocked out of the Mitchell Cup at the same venue for the second year on the trot!!!
Sumners Match Lake (Postman Pat Cup) 12/07/2009
The Tackle Warehouse kindly sponsored us on this occasion. They donated an engraved glass(The Postman Pat Trophy) and some tackle vouchers. As usual Keith Huggins did well and weighed in 53lb-9oz. for 3rd place.Geoff. Ingram fished brilliantly on his favorite chicken tikka bait to weigh in 59lb-4oz. but we have to say a massive congratulations to Kevin McIntyre(Mac) who not only beat Geoff. by a staggering 85lb.-6oz.His total setting a new club 6 hour match record at a brilliant155lb.-6oz.He alternated between the method and pole with mainly corn on the hook. We're all thrilled to bits for you Mac.and well done from us all.We decided to give the tackle vouchers to the person we voted to be the most improved angler. We had a unanimous winner in Kelly Longman.Well done Kelly you deserve them. Also well done to Nif Nof for catching a magpie. Don't ask.

Night Match Barbecue 20-21/06/2009
Once again it's time for the annual BBQ and p***up, sorry I mean night match. We had a good turn out with 15 anglers and a couple of guests. After a few beers and some food everyone was keen to get started and bag up, but the fish had other idea's as it didn’t fish well. Why? We have no idea. Kezza fished the method with fake corn to end up with 26lb 12oz and that was with throwing a couple back. Kelly also fished the method with sweet corn to take 2nd place with 25lb 2oz.marcus took on the dreaded peg 18 and managed to get 15lb 3oz And managed to take third place. the honours for chump of the month has to be shared by 4.first is matt bridle, but in his defence he did spend most of his time cooking the BBQ and looking after the fire, hank’s matt your a great chef. second is si clayton who managed to wake up for the last hour of the match, guess taking a tent and sleeping bag is too much temptation. third and fourth goes to campsey and George, our pro carp boys.dont know what they were doing but there were some strange noises coming out of their tent(yes they spent the night together).I would like to thank the social clubfor the food and Debbie for doing the driving. It was a great night which everyone enjoyed. Roll on next year
Borde Hill 24/05/2009
This years Pro-Am was held at Borde Hill once again. The weather was beautiful, the sky was blue,Kipper was red. What more could you ask for?The answer was fish because for whatever reason they just would not feed.Nine of the seventeen pairs that took part caught less than a pound.Three of the pairs caught nothing including Darkie who had nearly ninety pounds in his last match. On the day it was great to see Marcos and his partner Jay come out on top with 33lb.-3oz..Last years winners Roger Apps and Bill Norris came 2nd with 15lb.-11oz.(a good effort considering they started the match with two poles and ended with three).Gary and John West were 3rd with 12lb.-11oz.Congratulations must go to Don Fielding who caught a pair of specs. His only bite of the day!
Sumners Match Lake 10/05/2009
This is a lake that can produce big weights so expectations were running high at the start and we were wondering wether anyone would beat the magical ton.Unfortunately things were fairly slow at the off but most were keeping something going in the net.Roger Apps looked to be doing best with Darkie keeping the pressure on.Gary was struggling to take the odd fish. With an hour to go everything changed and quite a few more fish were coming out.Darkie fished a great match fishing catmeat and corn in the margins to take 80lb.-11oz. of mainly Carp.Roger had suffered the frustration of pulling out of too many fish.He took 50lb.-15oz.at 11 meters on the pole but Gary was lucky enough to have a late run on the method feeder to take a total of 53lb.-10oz. pushing poor old Roger back into 3rd spot.We must give Niff Noff a mention as he took two Carp giving his first ever double figure catch of 12lb.-3oz.
Mitchells Cup 2008
Good Friday 2009 saw the 2008 Mitchell Cup final take place on Osprey Lake.In it were Gary,Darkie and Simon. It was a day of drizzle but this didn't stop all three anglers from giving it their all.Simon had the benefit for an hour or two of having Keith Huggins coaching him but sadly came in third with 6lb.-11 oz. on the method.Well done Simon for getting this far and a big thanks to Keith for all his help .Simon certainly learnt a lot. Gary and Darkie were both alternating between the method feeder and the pole but had to work hard for bites. After four hours Gary was in front but not by far. Then Darkie took a couple of Carp. Then Gary did. Then Darkie Did.At the whistle it really wasn't clear who had won.Darkie weighed in first with 28lb. -10 oz.Then Gary took his turn and was astonished when they went round to 41lb.-8oz.This meant that Gary had pulled off the treble(the league, the Jeff. Lincoln and the Mitchell Cup). His luck must break soon!!!It was a great final and well done to everyone who took part.
Mill Farm 19/04/2009
Sunday 19th April saw us all back at Mill Farm near Pulborough. This is a lake with very few Carp in it so everyone had to change their tactics to suit.Small silver fish were the order of the day and you had to catch lots quickly.Jason Willie did well to come 3rd with 21b.-13oz. including several large Perch.Gary, still reeling from being pipped at the post by Keith Huggins in the previous match made sure it didn't happen again. Fishing a 3 meter whip and maggots he took 29lb-15oz.to Keiths 22lb-14oz.It was a great match and we must say a big well done to John Powell who has at long last started catching. He said watch your backs you soft southerners
Leggats Lake 29/03/2009
This was a match of two halves. One end of the lake was apparently fishless whilst the top three weights all came from the other end.Roger Apps fished well using the pole mainly down the edge to take14lb.-4oz. of mainly Carp for third place. After switching between the pole and feeder all day and with only 3 minutes to go Keith Huggins struck into a fish on the feeder fished to the island,A minute later Gary struck into one also.Sickeningly for Gary his came off whilst Keith landed his.Keith weighed in 20lb.-7 oz. whilst Gary could only manage 19lb.-9 oz. for second place.Just 14 ozs in it.What a great finish and well done to Keith for showing his class and winning his second match in a row.
